Repair and restoration of damaged STEYR 1291

Earlier this spring, together with your support, we handed over a Steyr 1291 military truck to the 25th Separate Assault Battalion, covering a critical logistical need for the entire unit.

This is the very same truck that was confiscated by Polish customs, and for which we fought for almost half a year to get back. A tremendous amount of effort, time, and emotion went into this vehicle.

However, at the end of the summer, during a combat mission, the truck was hit by a drone, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. The damage was catastrophic — the cabin, cargo compartment, and several key components were completely destroyed. Because of this, the truck was to be written off as beyond repair due to the lack of replacement parts.

Upon hearing this, our foundation decided to bring the truck back for a technical inspection and to assess whether restoration was possible.

After a detailed analysis, we made the decision to revive the Steyr 1291 by cannibalizing parts from other available vehicles and components on the market — creating our very own FrankenSteyr!

That’s why we’re launching a fundraising campaign of 625,000 UAH, which will cover all necessary repair and restoration work — after which the truck will proudly return to service with the 25th Assault Battalion! 🇺🇦
